I want to thank Leonard Thornton of the Times-Mail of Bedford, IN for writing an article on a local celebration of Martin Luther King's legacy.

King march pays tribute to faith, racial equality

BEDFORD - A crowd of between 130 and 150 gathered at the Lawrence County Courthouse Sunday afternoon for the 17th annual Martin Luther King Unity Celebration.
Clarence Brown and members of Second Baptist Church organized the event in 1989, with the idea of a celebration of unity throughout the county.

Mr. Thornton wrote a good news story detailing this event. Had he included a scripture reference, the article could have qualified for the Amy Writing Awards. In the article, Mr. Thornton quotes local residents and a pastor. He even describes the content of the pastor's sermon. It would have been easy to include a scripture passage as well.

God's Word has the power to change lives. Mainstream media has the power to put words in front of thousands of people everyday. The more we bring the two together, the more lives will be changed.
